Tamil Heritage

In the Sangam period, the lands of Tamilnadu were divided into 5 parts based on their geographical location. They  are Kurinji (mountainous region), Mullai (forest region), Marutham (agricultural region), Neithal (coastal region) and Palai (desert region). And each land will have its own food habits and worshipping God, and a village god who  guards their village. 

Boys and girls spent their time in playing unique games, When boys plays Goli, Kittupul, Pattam, pambaram, girls used to play Pandi attam, ezhukal, Pallankuzhi, Chozhi, Ezhukal, Kichu Kichu Thambalam, Adu puli attam, etc.

Even the older women after completing their house cores play with their neighbors Paramapadam, Pallankuzhi as entertainment…

Tamilians are known for their hospitality( Virunthombal) and it is their custom to entertain guests and relatives.

Thirukkural by Thiruvalluvar and Athichoodi by Avvayar are the first lessons being taught to children and people follow the rules and responsibilities as narrated in these sacred scripts.


In Spite of the diversities, Tamilians believed “Yadhum Oore, yavarum kelir” which means ``Every place is their own town and all the people around the world are their relatives”.
