Dress and Jewellery

Tamilian dress or attire plays an important role in their culture.
The traditional dress of Men in Tamil Nadu is  Dhoti with Angavastram and a shirt. The women wear traditional saree and blouses. Young girls wear Half saree and full skirts with blouses. Women wear silk sarees during weddings and festival times. Silk sarees of Kanchipuram are world famous. The dress of Tamilians was admired and liked by everyone across the globe. . Women wear Nose Pins on the right side of their nose where in other parts of India it was worn on the left side of the nose. Tamil women love Gold jewellery  and every woman will have a set of  Necklace, Jimikki, Bangles,  Manga malai and Kasumalai, Golusu, Mattal, Rakkpodi, Thirugupoo, Kunjalam and some  would possess Ottiyanam, Vangi and Attigai. In rural places Old women wear Pambadam , Kaikappu and Attigai. Metti worn in toe and Thirumangalayam or Thali  in Neck symbolises the married women.
