Tamilnadu has preserved its ancient culture while still adapting to the changing times and globalization. Originally, temples were the seat of the culture: sculptors, architects and painters built and embellished the temples, musicians and dancers performed for rituals and the students learnt to chant the ancient Vedas. At the same time, families also retained several traditions of the state. To this day, people draw elaborate Kolams in front of the house, prepare and serve food following their local and family traditions, perform and patronize classical and folk arts for all family celebrations and celebrate festivals in a traditional manner.
