Cholamandalam Arts village in Chennai near Adyar was set up by the like minded artists to have an exclusive studios, theatre on their own. There are studios, gallery, theatre, workshops and an exhibition centre located in this village. The  artists made this place as their residence also. Apart from working outside, they contributed their skills in making up this village. It is one of the biggest artists' communes in the world. Their works including Paintings, sculpture,  Terracotta articles and handicrafts are available for sale. The proceeds from this sale make the lives of many artists. The village is open for public from daily 10.00 am to 5.00 pm

Kalakshetra Foundation, Chennai

Kalakshetra Foundation, Chennai,  started as a School  and later developed as an arts and cultural academy having international recognition. The foundation offers diploma courses in Music, Dance, painting and crafts.  The best teachers and tutors of arts are part of this institution.   All forms of dance like Bhrathanatyam, Kathakali , Group dance and other dance forms are being trained here. Both vocal and Instrumental music are a part of this curriculum. The centre works on reviving of our old tradition of  various arts and weaves.The centre is available for public visitors from 8.30 AM to 5.00 Pm

Dakshinachitra Museum, Chennai is one of the biggest living  museums depicting the heritage, architecture and arts and crafts of South India. It is developed as an artistic village which  displays the original  living or lifestyle of people  of southern states. This village exhibits the original forms of architecture, performing arts, folk dance, stone arts, stone arts and other crafts of south india. The craftsmen demonstrate ter skills and work in detail to visitors. There is a library also inside this village which has more than 15000 books of arts, crafts, history and culture. Public visiting time 10.00 Am to 5 PM
