Cholamandalam Arts village in Chennai near Adyar was set up by the like minded artists to have an exclusive studios, theatre on their own. There are studios, gallery, theatre, workshops and an exhibition centre located in this village. The artists made this place as their residence also. Apart from working outside, they contributed their skills in making up this village. It is one of the biggest artists' communes in the world. Their works including Paintings, sculpture, Terracotta articles and handicrafts are available for sale. The proceeds from this sale make the lives of many artists. The village is open for public from daily 10.00 am to 5.00 pm

Kalakshetra Foundation, Chennai, started as a School and later developed as an arts and cultural academy having international recognition. The foundation offers diploma courses in Music, Dance, painting and crafts. The best teachers and tutors of arts are part of this institution. All forms of dance like Bhrathanatyam, Kathakali , Group dance and other dance forms are being trained here. Both vocal and Instrumental music are a part of this curriculum.
